The accountant responsible for this year’s Oscars blunder may have been let go, but Jimmy Kimmel is coming back for Oscars 2018.
It was announced that the late night host will be back for next year’s 90th annual Academy Awards. Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Academy president, called Kimmel a part of Oscars “dream team” alongsides producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd.
Jimmy Kimmel himself was upfront about the recent historical blunder.
“If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show!” he said in a statement.
Contrary to that, several new safeguards have been implemented for next year’s awards. The scrutineers will not be permitted the usage of their mobile phones backstage, and yet another accountant will be in the control room to ensure any possible stumbles are corrected right away.
During the 2017 Oscars ceremony, cast of La La Land was on stage for several minutes before it was clear that the winner was different.
The 2018 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
