The British actor appeared on the HBO series last year, making his debut as Brother Ray in a very crucial episode.
During that episode it was revealed that The Hound, played by Rory McCann, was still alive. But, prior to the episode airing, McShane shared a few too many details about his role, making many Thrones fans extremely upset.
“Can you believe it?’Oh, you’re giving it away.’ Firstly, you love it,” the 74-year-old actor told Empire magazine in an interview published in its April 2017 issue. “Secondly, you’ll have forgotten by the time it comes out…and what am I giving away? A character beloved by everybody returns. Get a f**king life.”
McShane has hit back at fans who slated him for giving away part of the season 6 storyline by telling fans to “get a life” and that the show is “only t**s and dragons.”
The 73-year-old actor angered GoT lovers by revealing his character would be “bringing someone back,” potentially solving that whole “is Jon Snow dead or alive?” issue that has been driving fans since last spring.
And although Kit Harrington’s inclusion in the new series has been showbiz’s worst kept secret this year, fans are not happy with the loose-lipped McShane.
When asked about his new role on BBC Breakfast, McShane said: “My character really is like an ex-warrior who’s become a peacenik. So I have a group of peaceful; sort of like a cult, peaceful tribe, who have brought back…I bring back a much-loved character who everybody thinks is dead. So I’ll leave it at that.”
