Willie Nelson being found dead is just another celebrity deception. Social media has re-circulated the report that the country music legend was found dead but the cause was not drug or alcohol abuse. This story is simply untrue. So where did this news of his death originate from?
Willie Nelson has been frequently targeted for celebrity death hoaxes with the most recent one being in August 2015. One of the influencers at the forefront of pushing this hoax has been MSMCC.com. The website has been named in such a way that it causes confusion with MSNBC.com which gives genuine news.
This fake news site published the report on 21st Feb 2015 claiming that the musician had passed away. They updated the article on the 11th of April 2015 starting a new rumor which read like shown below:
“Legendary country music star Willie Nelson found dead today in Maui home. 81-year-old celebrity was first rumored dead on April 11. 2015 on social media but was later confirmed by police. He was reportedly found by a groundskeeper scheduled to perform yard maintenance on his property, unresponsive on the lawn. He called 911 immediately.
Detective Adelson said that ‘there was no evidence of drug or alcohol abuse and no foul play’.
The County Coroner Frank Shultz said that determining the official cause of death takes as long as 3 weeks. ‘It is too early to tell what killed him’ he said.
The shocking news is just days after a recent interview with him where he was quoted saying that ‘Life is good’ and he had never felt better or been happier.”
Unfortunately, this face MSMBC.com article misled many people when it made rounds again even though it was false, a recycled version of the same prank. Snopes said that the latter part of the article that the story was still developing and yet to be verified is technically true. Nothing of the story has been verified because it was never true in the first place.
No legitimate news outlet reported his death because the man still lives. In fact, he commented on current political issues and was singing about how he is not dead.
He may be aging but his death is definitely a rumor.
2 days before his 84th birthday on Saturday, April 29th, he released a new music video for his song ‘still not dead’ from his new album ‘God’s Problem child’.
He first sings “I woke up still not dead again. The internet said I had passed away.”
