She has had a musical overhaul and we can’t help but love it.
Since she entered the limelight in 2007, Katy Perry has gone through a music evolution. From the time she ‘kissed a girl’ in the catchy pop sensation to the emotional love song ‘The One that got away’, she is constantly evolving.
Her latest album ‘Witness’ is on the way and she reveals yet another new look, perhaps the most dramatic so far.
The 32-year-old star took to Instagram to make the big announcement to her fans giving them a glimpse of her overhaul in an exciting video.
She sits elegantly in a pale pink dress and asks her followers if they could really see her, past her image, I guess. She then goes on:
‘My name is Katherine Hudson. I’m strong. I’m vulnerable. I’m an artist. I’m a woman. I’m goofy, liberated and I am not always right.’
Finally, she adds, ‘I’m Katie Perry and I am more than one thing.’ Meanwhile, the words ‘Witness- 9th June’ flash on the screen.
Talk about dramatic and effective!
Her fans clearly loved it too. One follower commented: “I can’t wait for the music to come out. I love it.”
Another one wrote: ‘Aaah, Jun 9th seems so far’, after another who simply called her his queen.
What is behind the new sound, you ask?
Well, Katy has always been very open regarding the inspiration for that album- the recent political events. She went as far as to refer her current music as ‘purposeful pop’.
Katy readily admits that the US Presidential Election last year helped transform how the fans will see her album. Go, Trump!
As one of the most local Clinton supporters, she admitted: ‘In retrospect, I was grateful for the experience of the election. I was able to find and test my voice. There was a lot of noise about my stand because I am generally neutral. But I was okay when someone told me to just shut up and sing.’
