David Wilks, an Australian fisherman proved his courage when he punched a great white shark in the nose and fought it for his net.
Nic Wilks uploaded a video to Instagram showing what can happen when a 10-foot great white shark gets a hold of your fishing net. It happened off the coast of Port Pirie in South Australia, and David Wilks, Nic’s father, 46, engaged the shark in a round of tug-of-war.
According to Wilks, the shark was caught in the net, and his father helped the fish free, but it simply refused to leave for good.
“Apparently the shark hadn’t had enough so he came back, and when he was right by the boat, Dad tried to ward him off with a swift punch to the nose,” Wilks said. “And so the shark didn’t like that very much and went berserk, and that’s when he grabbed onto the net.”
The video shows David Wilks tugging on the net as the shark’s face comes out of the water. The fisherman goes on to punch on the animal’s nose to get it to drop the net.
In the end, the shark drops the net and swims away, with David Wilks yelling after it.
